Just over 200 miles south of San Antonio is the Rio Grande Valley. And if you ask anyone in this region who has the tastiest tamales, theyโll tell you that itโs none other than Deliaโs! Delia, the owner and founder of the chain, started making tamales with one of her sisters. Each morning, they set out with their freshly cooked treats in coolers, selling them door-to-door and business-to-business.
After so many people raved about how delicious they were, Delia decided to open her first location in South McAllen in 1998. But one location wasnโt enough to satisfy so many requests! In 2003, a second location was opened in Pharr with four more opening up all across Hidalgo County.
Itโs because of these delicious treats that Deliaโs has captivated people from all over the Valley. These tamales have become so popular that the rest of the country wants in!
